SUPPORT : Super Get Info : Archived Release Notes : Super Get Info 1.0.7 Release Notes
This page documents all feature enhancements and bug fixes included in the Super Get Info 1.0.7 maintenance update.
Additions
Included 1.0v5 of the Bare Bones Open With contextual menu plugin.
When the contextual menu plug-in detects unresolvable aliases in your "Open With Items" folder, and you've brought up a contextual menu on a file context (in other words, one for which we would display the Open With Items) you will be notified of the broken aliases (so it is no longer a surprise what happened to your entries). You are given the choice to delete the broken aliases, ignore all future warnings, or reveal and select them in the finder so that you can repair them.
Added ".cdda" to the movie preview types so you can "preview" tracks on mounted audio CDs in the preview panel.
Added support for vCard previews.
Added support for previewing clipping files.
Previewing Unicode text clipping files works as one might expect.
Previewing text clipping files works as one might expect with the limitation that all 8-bit text is interpreted as Mac Roman.
For both Unicode and plain text clippings, styles are ignored.
Previewing URL clipping files works as one might expect. (All non-ASCII characters are assumed to be UTF-8 encoded.)
The SGI release notes are now accessible from the help menu.
The "SGI Keystroke Server" has been renamed to "Super Get Info Helper" and now uses SGI's icon in the login list so its purpose is more readily apparent. Any existing entries for "SGI Keystroke Server" in the login item list will be removed, and the new login item re-added as necessary, at application launch. The new login item logic should also prevent duplicate "Super Get Info Helper" entries from appearing in the login items list (this is rationalized at app startup time.)
SGI now keeps track if the last launch was a demo launch to allow better migration of aliases for the contextual menu plug-in when switching from the demo to the full version.
If you attempt to apply recursive ownership or permissions to various system directories, the software will warn you before allowing you to proceed. At present these special directories are:
/Applications
/Applications/Utilities
/System
/Users
Fixes
Fixed file permissions in the Help folder.
Super Get Info will now detect when it is being run from a read-only file system. In such a case, the app will put up an alert and warn the user that it is running from a read-only file system and the normal auto-install work was not done, and that the user will be prompted next time they launch to copy the app to /Applications or wherever.
Fixed a memory leak when converting UTC dates to an internal format that is more useful.
The error message that is reported when you can't modify the invisibility flag no longer refers to "stationary".
Fixed a bug where if you were typing in the creation or modification date field and close the window without hitting return or otherwise committing the edit, it wouldn't be written out.
On the boot disk we were only emptying ~/.Trash. We now also empty /.Trashes/uid/. It would appear that under normal circumstances files don't end up there, but they can in some situations.
Fixed previewing of rtfd and htmld files.
Corrected the build/install permissions so the app is usable by non-admin users.
