Mailsmith 2.1.1 Release Notes
This page documents all feature enhancements and bug fixes included in the Mailsmith 2.1.1 release. For information on changes made in previous versions, please see the release notes archive.
Additions
The following features and enhancements are new for Mailsmith 2.1.1:
"Show Message Source" can now be used to view the guts of outgoing messages. (Note that since the headers and MIME separators are synthesized each time, they won't be precisely what was sent over the wire, but will nonetheless accurately reflect the structure of the message.)
People seem to want to turn on "Require SSL for POP" and "Require SSL for SMTP" for servers that don't support the requisite commands, and then ignore the advice in the error message to contact their server admin for assistance. So the error messages for these conditions now spell out the fact that "Require SSL for POP" and "Require SSL for SMTP" were turned on but shouldn't have been, and advise the user to turn them off.
Fixes
The following problems have been corrected in Mailsmith 2.1.1:
If a signature's properties are changed via the scripting interface, the display in the Signatures window will now update as necessary.
Mailsmith caches the count of unsent messages to improve performance for outboxes with large numbers of outgoing messages.
Fixed crash which would occur when sending a message created from a stationery document that specified "Use Internet Config" as the signature option.
Fixed bug in which the Signatures popup was malformed if "Show in Signatures Menu" was turned off for the first signature in the list.
Fixed bug in which headers for exported outgoing messages were not properly synthesized if custom headers were in use.
Because "Notification Enabled" can never be turned on for the "(spam)" mailbox, the "Notification Enabled" check box is now set correctly in this mailbox's info window, and the scripting interface prevents you from doing so.
Fixed cause of crash when reopening the Glossary floater at launch time.
Fixed a bug where text preview would crash when processing certain HTML content.
Fixed bug in cache management which bizarrely caused database operations to become slow when the application was mostly idle.
The static name for attaching a script to Discard Spam is "Mail•Discard Spam".
Fixed bug which would cause Mailsmith to crash at startup if the mail store had been migrated from version 1.5 and the outgoing mailbox associated with a particular account had been deleted.
Added confirmation alert for deleting signatures
Signatures are now accessible by name from the scripting interface.
Signatures can be created from the scripting interface, and the signatures window will update.
Added error message for "can't get random signature".
Fixed bug in which one of the supporting files in the Mail package got bigger and bigger as time went by. In extreme cases it might cause the application to crash when starting up.
Fixed a lurking bug that might cause strange things to happen when hard-wrapping using "Same as First Line" or "Relative to First Line" indentation.
