BBEdit’s System Administration and Unix Features
BBEdit offers the System Administrator & UNIX user powerful tools as well:
- Authenticated saves
- Access and manipulate locked and hidden unix files for system administration both locally and on remote volumes—now open files for editing that are only readable by root. (For example, /etc/sudoers)
- Shell Worksheets to store and execute Unix command lines by means of a shell worksheet—type, delete, and edit text in a worksheet window just as in an ordinary BBEdit document window
- Transparently search, open, and save gzip (.gz) compressed text files New!
- Shell Worksheets provide a unique command-line experience, complete with ‘sudo’ support
